I often get asked what version of Joomla should I be using; 1.5, 2.5, 3.0! The answer varies depending on your website functionality. What I mean by that is it depends how many components you have running on your website. While 3.0 is out there it takes usually about 6 months for the majority of well known Joomla components (extensions) to up grade their software. So if your site has little or no additional functionality then go with 3.0. However if your site needs functionlaity by use of an add-on component and it is not yet 3.0 compatible then go with 2.5. It is fairly easy to up grade from 2.5 to 3.0 when that functionality is updated by the component creator. I run over 500 sites and while I like to always use the latest and greatest, planning out your site around functionality is crucial! At www.allaboutjoomla.com we have over 500 clients in 14 different Countries and we are always willing to answer your questions. My name is Tony Slavin and I am the CEO at AllAboutJoomla.
